Welcome to the Website of

Company A, 33rd Virginia

The Potomac Guard”

The 33rd Virginia, (Co. A), is a family oriented

Reenacting group portraying the Southern Soldiers, Civilians, and Craftsmen of the American Civil War.

Located in Indianapolis and with members throughout Indiana, the 33rd Virginia was founded in 1972 and is incorporated in the State of Indiana as a nonprofit corporation for historical and educational purposes. Through living history programs, battle recreations, and other similar programs, the 33rd Virginia Company A provides the public, as well as participants, with a living dynamic portrayal of the War Between the States and of an infantry component in the famous "Stonewall Brigade" of the Confederate Army. The unit also portrays the 33rd Indiana of the Union Army as the need arises.

With an emphasis on historical authenticity as well as “fun”, the 33rd participates in a wide variety of reenactments, memorial services, living history events, and other social activities.

If you are new to reenacting, (or an old vet looking for a unit to join), we invite to you take a good look at our information (See “Join Us!” And “Info For The New Recruit” ) on the sidebar.

This website features information for the Soldier, Civilians, (see “The Homefront”), The Cadet Corps, and an introduction to “The Official Blacksmith of the 33rd Virginia”, Aubrey Williams.

We invite you to enjoy our website, ask us any

Questions, and even join our group as we “Strive to keep history alive”.

We always look forward to meeting new friends and folks at the many events that we attend, and we hope to see you soon!

 "Surrender means that the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy,
that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers;
learn from Northern school books THEIR version of the war;
and taught to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects of derision."
